Strong fire at several houses in Sector 5. A man immobilized in bed and a woman who had been hurt were evacuated

A major fire broke out at several houses and outbuildings on Garoafei Street in Bucharest, Sector 5. The flames affected an area estimated at approximately 700 square meters.

According to ISU Bucharest, the flames manifest themselves with large releases of smoke, measures being taken to evacuate residents from the area. One person needed medical attention and was taken over by SMURD crews for first aid.
Until this moment, the SMURD crews have taken over 2 people, more precisely a man immobilized in bed, respectively a woman with hypothermia, without burns or exposure to smoke, announces the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU).
To extinguish the fire, 9 fire trucks, SMURD crews, the rescue vehicle and the Special Rescue Detachment were mobilized. The intervention forces are located on three streets and act to locate and limit the spread of the fire.

The intervention is made difficult by the large smoke vents, visible on the roofs.
Firefighters are working to remove sheet metal cladding to extinguish hidden fires and prevent the fire from spreading.
