The company Publivol Creativ SA, established specifically to control Metropola TV, the home television of mayor Florentin Pandele, has a new general manager, writes Pagina de Media.
It is about Dan Cristian Popescu, general councilor in the Capital City Hall from the PSD and former candidate for the 2nd Sector City Hall.
In addition to Metropola TV, Popescu will also coordinate Sport Total FM radio and outdoor advertising panels in Voluntari.
Television will be relaunched focused on current affairs. “My mandate is for one year, during which I have to improve the audiences and the economic situation”, declared Popescu.

He specified that there will be no hiring or layoffs. “Currently the station has only one news bulletin, at 18.00. It is too little. There will be at least one more. We will try to improve the schedule of programs, to be more anchored in the realities of the Metropolis”, declared the new general director.
The political trajectory of Dan Cristian Popescu
Dan Cristian Popescu was a PSD deputy, deputy mayor of Sector 2 PNL, but he also went through PNȚCD and Forța Civică, according to Buletin de Bucharest. Since 2024, he is the general adviser of the CGMB from the PSD side. According to his wealth declaration, he owns eight apartments, five of which are in Bucharest and three in Florida, a house, four plots of land, a Lexus and a collection of jewelry and watches worth more than 250,000 euros. He declared substantial rental, interest and dividend income.
He tried to run as an independent candidate for the Capital City Hall last year, but the BEM rejected his candidacy because “the meeting within the same person, at the same time, of both the quality of general councilor of the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest from the Social Democratic Party, and the quality of independent candidate is not possible within the same electoral process”.
Over 20 years ago, he was development director in the company that operated B1 TV, before Sorin Oancea became a shareholder, according to Pagina de Media.
The debts of the company that controls Metropola TV
Popescu says that the president of the Board of Directors, Gheorghe Robert, launched the proposal to take over the management of the company that controls Metropola TV, which has been recording losses since its foundation, reaching a peak in 2024, when it reported a hole of 6.5 million lei.
The company Publivol Creativ SA is financed from the fees and taxes paid by the citizens of the city of Voluntari, which has been led by Florentin Pandele for more than two decades.
Popescu claims that he wants to bring in other sources of income to get rid of the dependence on financing from public money.
“One of my goals is to at least reduce the dependence on the public budget, to make it commercially sustainable. At least to reduce it, if this dependence cannot be given up,” Popescu also told Pagina de Media.
The company's financial data for 2025 are not yet public, but Popescu admits that the situation is not “bright”.
“We have some arrears at ANAF, but they are within a manageable limit”, said the general adviser.
