Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud arrived in the United States for an official visit meant to develop the expected movement of US President Donald Trump this spring, a source close to the Royal Palace told Reuters.
According to the quoted source, Prince Faisal will discuss with American government officials about Gaza and about Houthi rebels.
His visit was scheduled before last week's announcement on the introduction of American tariffs, the quoted source added, according to Agerpres.
Trump's tariff offensive shook the markets and caused fears about a global recession that could lead to lower oil price, the main export product of Saudi Arabia.
An official source confirmed the arrival of Prince Faisal in Washington, but did not provide other details.
Trump intends to take a visit to Saudi Arabia in May to sign an investment agreement. The visit, who will have stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, will be the first outside the country of his current term.
In the mandate started in 2017, his first external trips were in Saudi Arabia and Israel.
