Prepare tender and delicious bagels for tea. Shortcrust pastry recipe made from simple ingredients

The author of the Ukrainian culinary YouTube channel “Culinary Recipes from Nadia” told how to prepare tender, crumbly and fragrant bagels.

“A simple homemade recipe for shortbread bagels that melt in your mouth. They are prepared quickly and without complex ingredients – ideal for tea, coffee or milk,” noted the food blogger.

All products should be at room temperature.

Products

  • 500 g flour;
  • 150 g of melted but not hot margarine;
  • 50 g sour cream;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • 8 g vanilla sugar;
  • two eggs;
  • 30 g corn starch;
  • 8 g baking powder;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • 150 g poppy seed filling.

Preparation

  1. Sift flour into a bowl, add starch and baking powder. Mix with a whisk.
  2. Add margarine and use a spatula to crush everything into fine crumbs.
  3. In a separate container, whisk the eggs and salt.
  4. When the mass becomes homogeneous, add sugar, vanilla sugar and sour cream. Make a funnel in the flour and pour in the egg mixture, knead the dough until smooth. Wrap the dough in film and place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into two parts. Form each into a sausage and cut into portions.
  6. Form the pieces into buns and then into bagels. To do this, roll out the bun into a sheet, place the poppy seed filling on the edge of the piece and spread evenly over the surface. Cover the filling with dough and seal it. Make cuts on the free part of the dough. Roll the dough into a roll. The edges of the bagel can be pinched.
  7. Place the finished bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  8. Bake the bagels in an oven preheated to 180°C for 25 minutes.
  9. Once the bagels have cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
