Manhattan armed robbery. The attackers stole Pokemon cards


The attack took place on Wednesday around 6:45 p.m. at the Poke Court store on West 13th Street. Three men dressed in black entered the premises. One of them pulled out a gun and started pointing it at service employees and customers – describes the store owner, quoted by the New York Times.

Surveillance footage showed that the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for. They immediately went to the closed display case with the most valuable cards.

The robbers fell prey to, among others, Charizard card from the first edition of the game, worth approx. PLN 15,000. dollars (approx. PLN 55,000). The thieves also took money from the cash register and stole a mobile phone from one of the women. “The entire attack lasted no more than three minutes,” said the owner.

The New York Police reported that no one was hurt in the incident. The officers initiated an investigation, but so far they have not been able to locate the perpetrators.

Pokemon cards are part of a collectible card game based on console games. It was released for the first time in Japan in October 1996, and then in North America in December 1998. The most valuable cards from the first edition of the game can be worth over a million dollars (over PLN 3.6 million).
