Work on the line, which was damaged and put out of use as a result of hostilities on January 2, is to begin “in the coming days,” the IAEA informed.
“The Agency continues to work closely with both sides to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant and to prevent a nuclear disaster during the conflict,” IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi announced in a statement. He added that this was the fourth local ceasefire concluded to secure the plant.

The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, has been occupied by Russia since early March 2022. Six of its reactors remain at a standstill but need to be cooled.
