Thousands of people take part in a demonstration in Washington on Saturday against the policies of the administration of US President Donald Trump. Mass protests under the slogan “No Kings” are organized throughout the country.

Mass protests under this slogan took place for the first time in mid-June. According to the organizers, millions of people will take to the streets of American cities on Saturday. The participants emphasize that in this way they defend freedom of speech. Opponents of the action claim that Saturday's demonstrations are “anti-American.” Car traffic is closed in downtown Washington.
Demonstrators hold US flags and banners with slogans against the president, including: with criticism of the actions of immigration services, sending the National Guard to the streets of some American cities and the shutdown.
“Not for kings”, “Why does Trump love Putin so much?”, “Only Christ is king”, “Alexa, change the president”, “It's so bad that even introverts are here”, “Autocracy is anti-American”, “America was built by immigrants”, “Dictators will not win the Nobel” – these are some of the slogans on the participants' posters.
Some protesters wore costumes of cartoon characters or historical costumes. A person in a dinosaur costume holds a poster with the slogan: “Democracy is on the brink of extinction.” “Fascism wears diapers,” says a banner held by a person dressed as a baby, supposedly resembling Trump. On the nearby National Mall, a woman dressed in a ball gown explained to passersby that “the times of kings and queens are over.”
Among the crowd of protesters, there are sellers from whom you can buy T-shirts with the words “No Kings” or ready-made posters with protest slogans.
One of the participants, dressed as a bald eagle, told PAP that she was protesting against the administration's actions, which she considered “contrary to the foundations on which the USA is based.”
– The administration should read some history books to know how such governments end – he adds. The woman holds in her hands several copies of the book “On Tyranny” by Professor Tymothy Snyder, also known in Poland. – I like this book very much. I bought a few copies and give them away to people – says a resident of Washington.
– I am protesting against Trump in general – Aidan, who is holding a “Gen Z against tyranny” banner, told PAP. After a while, he adds that, above all, he doesn't like the policy towards immigrants.
– Democrats are not the enemy within, as Trump says. We all love America, emphasizes Sue, who holds a banner with the slogan “The Trump administration is the enemy within.”
Kent, who has a large Ukrainian flag attached to his bicycle, told PAP that the war must end. – Putin started the war, and Trump doesn't even want to admit it. I read this morning that Trump met with Zelensky again yesterday and nothing came of it. People must finally stop being killed, emphasizes Kent.
Andy, standing next to him, assures that “most Americans support Ukraine.” – I would like Russia to be kicked out of every inch of Ukrainian territory – he adds.
– Since his first term, I don't like what Trump is doing. First of all, what is happening to immigrants and the fact that it limits women's reproductive rights. I'm also unhappy that he's laying off federal workers. It will take years to rebuild all this, complains Allie, 29, from New York.
Organizers inform that over 2.5 thousand events are scheduled to take place in the USA on Saturday. events as part of the “No Kings” protest. They assure that it will be peaceful.
