Dacia is preparing to launch this year a new electric model, the successor to Dacia Spring, and the first information and images about the new car, which will most likely be called Dacia Evader, have already appeared.

Dacia's new city-oriented electric model, expected in 2026, will be the brand's future entry-level electric vehicle, but it won't phase out the Spring, or at least not immediately.

The new compact electric car, currently known as Evader, will use the technical platform of the new Renault Twingo and will bet on accessibility, with a starting price estimated at around 18,000 euros, higher than initially announced (no. 15,000 euros), according to motorionline.com.

The launch of the Dacia Evader model could take place at the Paris Motor Show in October of this year, and the brand management confirmed that the new vehicle will coexist, in a first phase, with Dacia Spring, the manufacturer's first electric model.

The Evader won't directly replace the current model, as originally thought, but it may do so later. Patrice Lévy-Bencheton, product director at Dacia, explained that the two models can coexist, although both are electric cars in the A segment: “They are still quite different: you will discover this when we present the car – the dimensions, the shape and all the other aspects,” he said, quoted by the source mentioned above.

The new model will have similar dimensions to the electric Renault Twingo

Evader and Spring will be present on the market simultaneously, Dacia offering, for a certain period, two electric vehicles in segment A. This situation will be temporary, however, because Dacia plans a gradual withdrawal of the initial model, Spring.

The brand's new electric car, which unlike the Spring will be designed and manufactured in Europe, will be larger than the current model and the starting price will be around 18,000 euros. It will be positioned on the market with a higher price and will take on dimensions and proportions similar to those of the new one Renault Twingo electric.

The particularities of the Dacia Spring successor

“The new car would have an LFP battery with a net capacity of 27.5 kWh, higher than the new one from Spring of 24.3 kWh net. In Twingo, the WLTP autonomy is 262 km. Also, the battery of Spring's successor will charge faster, the Twingo's charging power being 50 kW compared to 40 kW in the new Spring”, noted automotorsisport.ro.

“The Spring's successor will have a different, taller crossover body. Thus, we also expect the future Spring to be slightly more spacious than the current model and to be around 3.85 meters, which is about 15 cm longer than the current model. It will probably be similar in size to the Hyundai Inster. Also, the trunk will have more than 300 liters compared to the current model's 288.

Taking over Twingo's platform, Spring's successor will have a multimedia system that will use Google services and, as with the Sandero, we expect two versions of the multimedia system: a basic one with the phone as a multimedia system and the second top with its own display and integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto”, according to the previously cited source.
