Spurs are coming off the stinging defeat against Nottingham
After a very good start to the season, which even allowed them to occupy the second position in the Premier League standings at one point, Thomas Frank's team began to gradually lose their consistency.
Today's hosts are currently only 11th in the league, six lengths adrift of local rivals Chelsea in 4th place, the final position that secures next season's Champions League spot.
In the current season, however, Tottenham enjoys the participation in the most important interclub competition in Europe, where after six rounds, the Londoners occupy a play-off position, still having real chances for a ranking in the TOP 8.
However, it seems that the convincing run in the UCL is affecting Spurs' performances in the Premier League considerably. The last example is provided by the mirror results recorded by the Londoners in the last two matches. After a decisive 3-0 with Slavia Prague at home in the Champions League, Thomas Frank's students lost with the same score in the championship in Nottingham, 0-3 with Forest.
The Cormorants are undefeated in December
On the other hand, the English champion is showing signs of a comeback. In the month of December, Arne Slot's team did not suffer any failure, whether we are talking about the matches played domestically, or whether we are talking about those in the Champions League.
What's more, the last two games played by the team on Anfield Road recorded two victories without conceding a goal (2-0 at home against Brighton, respectively 1-0 at “Giuseppe Meazza” with Cristi Chivu's Inter).
Also, it seems that the hatchet between Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot has been buried, the Egyptian being sent to the field in the last round of the championship, in which he scored the “assist” on the goal that closed the table in the duel with the “seagulls”.
Even so, Liverpool face a maximum month-long absence from Anfield's most prolific player in recent years as he is part of Egypt's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts tomorrow and ends on January 18.
Currently, the “Cormorants” are 7th in England, with 26 points collected in the first 16 stages.
