Major decision in showbiz: Pro TV removes Cătălin Măruță's show from the station after 18 years

The television station PRO TV announced, on Monday evening, the end of the format of the well-known show “La Măruţă” starting on February 6, 2026, writes Pagina de Media.
Pro TV conveyed, in a press release, that “the decision is part of a wider process of adapting the content strategy, aimed at responding to both the linear television audience and digital consumers, in the context of a media market in continuous evolution”.
The format of the show “La Măruță” is one of the longest running of the general television station.

“There were 18 years in which La Măruţă was more than a show and became an important part of my life and, I am convinced, of the lives of many viewers as well. We grew up together, laughed, celebrated, learned and discovered the extraordinary stories of our guests. For me, this was a wonderful chapter, which will always keep a special place in my soul”, declared Cătălin Măruţă.
“Now I am curious and look forward to the next period with enthusiasm, going to devote my time to several projects in the online area and new formats that I wanted to develop. I am deeply grateful to the team and the public who have been with me every day of this journey and I thank them for every moment they shared with me”, said the presenter.
Post management evokes a 'natural evolution'
The company also conveyed, in the Monday evening announcement, that it is currently exploring internal opportunities for the production team, with the aim of capitalizing on its experience and skills in other projects.
“La Măruţa was a unique format on the Romanian television market and an important part of PRO TV's history. We are grateful to the team and Cătălin Măruţă for their outstanding contribution. This change is not a separation, but follows a natural evolution, part of a wider transformation of content that we will implement in the next period”, said Aleksandras Cesnavicius, CEO of Pro TV.
