“An internal investigation was launched. This morning a medical committee met. All documents were requested in both reported cases and they are currently being analyzed”said, on Monday, the spokesperson of the Constanta County Emergency Clinic, Crina Kibedi, according to News.
At the end of last week, the family of a two-year-old and five-month-old child accused the medical staff at the Constanța County Hospital of not taking proper care of him, after he was operated on because he had been diagnosed with intestinal volvulus.
Later, the child's condition worsened, septicemia and multiple organ dysfunction appeared. The family claims that he missed the neurosurgical consultation for three days after the operation and that he was not seen by the doctor on duty for 24 hours. Currently, the child has been transferred to the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in Bucharest and is brain dead.
The second case is that of a six-year-old girl, who became brain dead after being operated on for appendicitis at the Constanta County Hospital.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health, through the Control Body, will verify the hospital's activity from an administrative point of view, and the State Sanitary Inspection will analyze compliance with protocols regarding the prevention and control of nosocomial infections.
Last Sunday, the minister had already announced the sending of the Control Corps to the Constanța County Hospital, after it was found that, in some wards, more than 70% of the staff benefit from duty exemptions or night shifts.
