Russia lacks 10 thousand specialists in the field of AI / Economic news of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

The Russian labor market, including in the IT sector, is slowing down, but the demand for highly qualified personnel remains high. The shortage of specialists in the field of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence is especially severe – the shortage of the latter is estimated at 10 thousand.
This was stated by Anton Stepanov, CEO of T1 Cloud, at a career guidance forum in Ryazan.
According to him, the younger generation of specialists who are now entering the labor market should pay attention to the areas of AI development and cybersecurity, since they are the ones who determine the technological agenda of the coming years. In 2024 alone, cyber fraudsters defrauded Russians out of 300 billion rubles, which proves that without qualified personnel in the field of cybersecurity, the country risks remaining vulnerable.
This problem does not go unnoticed by large companies and government agencies, which most of all need specialists who can protect digital infrastructure and develop smart systems to prevent threats. “Such professions are especially notable for their demand and prospects for rapid professional growth,” the expert added.
Stepanov also emphasized that business sees how competition for professionals between employers is intensifying, and the level of requirements for specialists is growing in all regions. According to analysts, the ratio of resumes to vacancies for juniors is 16 to 1, while for seniors this figure is 0.5.
According to the IT holding T1 and hh.ru, 26% of IT specialists from the regions receive offers to move to large cities, but only 7% agree.
“This trend confirms: regions are becoming increasingly independent centers of gravity for IT specialists. We are developing educational programs that help acquire the necessary competencies for growth in the IT field, and also create jobs in Ryazan – both in the office and remotely. There is a high level of graduates’ training here and their readiness to get involved in real projects from the first day,” emphasized Anton Stepanov.
Maxim Sonikov, Minister of Digital Development, Information Technologies and Communications of the Ryazan Region, noted that the region is focusing on improving the digital culture of all age groups, starting with schoolchildren. One of the region’s key projects is the “Digital Volunteers” program, implemented jointly with the federal project “Digital Russia”.
“This project brings together young initiative people and representatives of the older generation. Schoolchildren and students help their peers and adults understand digital tools and online safety rules. They teach you how to use applications correctly, pay bills online, fill out documents, and avoid falling for the tricks of cyber fraudsters. We strive to ensure that the digital environment is not a source of risk, but an assistant in everyday life,” said the minister.
He also noted that IT in the region remains one of the most promising industries. According to him, the Ryazan region is already home to about ten thousand residents who work in the IT field, and the new young generation, for a successful start in this direction, only needs to receive an appropriate higher education.
The minister emphasized that all conditions for this have been created in the Ryazan region: universities in the region offer modern educational programs in the field of digital technologies and actively cooperate with employers and IT companies. This allows young specialists to gain in-demand competencies and build a career in the region.
