Employers in Russia will be able to send employees for a psychiatric examination

Russian employers will be able to send employees for a psychiatric examination if signs of a mental disorder are detected during a medical examination.

This norm will come into effect on March 1, 2026, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Maria Solovyova, Associate Professor of the Department of Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Social Work of Pirogov University, Candidate of Medical Sciences.

She explained that the innovation will allow employers to respond to possible changes in the mental health of employees. The examination includes reception with examination and consultation of a psychiatrist, collection of complaints and anamnesis in psychiatry, psychopathological examination.

Based on the results, a citizen may be temporarily recognized as unable to perform certain types of work due to a mental disorder.
