Invited, in a show at Antena 3, to say with what historical character, Crin Antonescu would be nominated on Charles de Gaulle, then stating that he takes this exercise as a joke. The following made similar comparisons for his counter -candidates, mostly much less flattering.

After mentioning Charles de Gaulle, Antonescu said: “It was stubborn as I try, sometimes, to be.”

Referring to Gaulle's refusal to accept the armistice imposed by France by Germany, after the defeat suffered in 1940, and the departure of the general in the UK, Antonescu added: “He was able to dedicate the action of some causes (…) continued to defend a certain image regarding France.”

Another reason invoked by Antonescu was that De Gaulle defended his political belief, and when the French did not agree, he did not hesitate to give up power.

Invited to make a comparison between Elena Lasconi and another historical character, the Coalition candidate said: “Maria Stuart. This is more joking, than that with de Gaulle. Maria Stuart was a character with great lack of loyalty to her relatives and her political associates, all men. Antonescu, referring to the beheading of the Queen of Scotland by Elizabeth I, the Queen of England.

In the case of Victor Ponta, Antonescu indicated Radu cel Frumos. “It was a brother only in half – the genealogies were uncertain at that time – by Vlad Țepeș. As Țepeș was bad, the Turks thought to give a brother trained at the Institute and more docile with their interests,” said Crin Antonescu.

It was more difficult to indicate a correspondent for Nicușor Dan. “This is really hard. No matter how much you want to play. To compare Nicușor Dan with a leader I can't. With any leader. There were leaders like Nicușor Dan, many, but they were born kings. A man who would lead to the kind of Nicușor Dan, I could not even imagine (…) Euclid to a senator, but could not be a senator, could not lead armed.

In the case of George Simion, Antonescu evoked the various impostors who clamped that they are members of the Tsar family, with a law, who were in front of some riots.

“There were in the history of Russia all kinds of haidamacs that were used for certain purposes: the false Dimitrie, the false Peter. I see George Simion, but without a future,” concluded Antonescu.
