An earthquake with a magnitude of 3 on the Richter scale occurred on Saturday, at 14:31 local time, in the Făgăraș – Câmpulung seismic zone, Vâlcea county, according to data published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers, near the following cities: 37 kilometers north of Râmnicu Vâlcea, 43 kilometers south of Sibiu, 81 kilometers northeast of Târgu Jiu, 82 kilometers northwest of Pitesti, 84 kilometers south of Mediaş, 86 kilometers southeast of Alba Iulia.

In October, 16 earthquakes occurred in Romania, with magnitudes between 2 and 4 on the Richter scale.

The biggest earthquakes this year, both measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, took place on February 13 in Buzău County, respectively on May 11 in Vrancea County.

Last year, the most important earthquake had a magnitude of 5.2 and occurred in Buzau County on September 16.
