“4,336 km² of Ukrainian territory was occupied in 2025. This is approximately 0.72% of the entire territory of Ukraine. In total, from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2026, the increase in the occupied territory amounted to 7,463 km², or 1.23% of the entire territory,” the report says.
At the same time, DeepState emphasized that compared to previous years, 2025 was “really difficult” for the Ukrainian defense forces.
The service outlined the situation with the occupation by region, showing how it has changed over the past year, and compared the current data with 2022.
According to the information released, in total, over the course of three years of war, the Russian Federation has improved its position in the Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In the Kherson region, the occupiers had neither achievements nor territorial losses.
“In total, 116,165 km² of Ukrainian land is occupied by the Katsap. This is 19.25% of the entire territory, or every fifth square kilometer. Crimea is unchanged, 100% occupied. And the percentage of the Nikolaev region occupied on the Kinburn Spit does not play a role in the numbers,” DeepState summarized.
