The loudspeakers blaring fiddle music, the must sold on the sidewalk, small and beer given to the neck among the donuts that you meet today at Obor represent only a pale remnant of what was once Târgul Moșilor, the great bâlci of old Bucharest.
It was held on the site of today's central halls, a special place at that time for the sale of wood and hay.
It is not known precisely when the Grandfathers' Fair began to be organized in Bucharest, the documents show that, around 1862, the phenomenon was associated with the commemoration of the dead. Everyone went to Moși to buy small pots, cofes, small pots and other rustic pots and give them as alms filled with mutton stew or rice with milk.
Although it still had a pronounced commercial character, in the interwar period Târgul Moșilor began to look more and more like an amusement park, after the company “Luna Park” installed a series of machines such as Montagne Russe, Troleibus, Roata Norocului or “Lănturile”. Games of chance could also be played, such as “Look bobu' nu e bobu”, White and Red or dice.
