During the interview, Gordon and Lubinets discussed:
- are there “waiters” in the area of active hostilities – those who are waiting for the Russian army – and how many there are;
- how many Ukrainian children were kidnapped by Russian occupiers, how the children are being returned and what role does US First Lady Melania Trump play in this process;
- how many Ukrainian soldiers are in Russian captivity;
- how are meetings with the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova going;
- actions of territorial acquisition centers and their violations;
- a visit to the cell of businessman Igor Kolomoisky;
- presidential elections in Ukraine during the war;
- when the war ends.
Lubinets spoke in detail in an interview about his contacts with Moskalkova. According to him, their first contact by phone took place five days after his appointment, in July 2022, and their first meeting in October of the same year.
“You know, there are meetings that you will remember all your life… I understood that emotions need to be removed. This is not a question from Lubinets Moskalkova. This is a question of building a communication channel that will allow us to return our citizens from Russian captivity or do everything to make it at least easier for them. I knew that there would be a mixed reaction from Ukrainian society… This was on the territory of the Zaporozhye region. Everything is like in spy films: a destroyed bridge, they are on one side of the river, we are on the other, the regime silence, and we meet in the middle of this bridge. And most importantly: that day she helped bring back 108 Ukrainian women soldiers,” Lubinets recalled.
Lubinets was born in 1981 in Volnovakha, Donetsk region. He graduated from the Faculty of History of the Donetsk National University named after Vasyl Stus and the Faculty of Law of the National Law University named after. Yaroslav the Wise. Worked in business. He was a deputy of the Volnovakha City Council. From 2014 to 2022, he was a people’s deputy of Ukraine, a member of the factions of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc and “For the Future”. Since 2022 – Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
