VIDEO Torrential rain and flooding in Spain. One person is dead and two others are missing

Torrential rains flooded southern and eastern Spanish provinces this weekend, causing significant casualties and damage. By Sunday evening, one person had died and two others were reported missing, reports Reuters.
In Valencia, where floods since October 2024 have killed more than 220 people and caused billions of euros in damage, authorities issued red alerts on people's phones on Sunday night, urging them to stay indoors and on higher ground.

Orange alerts were issued in eight other provinces. Citizens were warned of the risks to themselves or their property and advised to be prepared for a possible worsening of conditions.
Heavy rains in Valencia last year took authorities by surprise, with many accusing local and national officials of warning the population too late. The situation led to the resignation of the regional leader.

In Malaga, Spain's Civil Guard found the lifeless body of a man whose van was swept away on Sunday, according to a post on the institution's X account. A passenger in the van has yet to be found.
In Granada, emergency services were looking for a young man who got swept away while trying to cross a riverbed on a motorcycle, according to the EFE news agency.
In Barcelona, in the Catalonia region, a woman was hospitalized on Saturday after being hit by a light pole blown down by gusts of wind, the regional government's civil protection agency told Europa Press.
