The first vice-president of PNL Ciprian Ciucu said, at Digi24, that he is no longer tempted to run for the City Hall, if the election is postponed for the spring of the next year as the postponement would considerably limit the possibility of the future Chief Edil of Bucharest to do what he has proposed.
Ciprian Ciucu said that he cannot agree with the postponement of the partial elections in Bucharest, as PSD wants.
“In a liberal democracy, with a rule of law, the elections must be predictable and you have to respect the law. Thus the arbitration intervenes and exit outside the rule of law. Sorin Grindeanu should be the first to comply with the law. I expect the next coalition to come and say that we must go out,”
He invoked the precedent of the 2024 elections, which were established according to the interests of the Coalition at that time and which produced a harsh reaction from the electorate. “What is the message you want to give to people? That everything is an arrangement?”, Commented the mayor of Sector 6.
Ciucu also rejected Grindeanu's assertion that PSD could get out of government if PNL and USR will have a common candidate for the position of mayor as they would show that the Social Democrats are isolated.
“The PSD position seems a little forced.
“There is no happiness to be the mayor of Bucharest”

He said that, in the event that the elections will be postponed for next year, he will hesitate to take a candidacy as he would not have enough time to implement his vision for Bucharest. “If the elections are postponed I do not know how tempted I am to apply. The elections are going in April, you take your mandate in May, summer comes, the world goes on leave …”, explained Ciucu.
“It is no happiness to be the mayor of Bucharest”, continued Ciucu, stating that, in the last 15 year, the General City Hall has been transformed into a “payment agency”, as two thirds of the financial transfers of the municipality are represented by subsidies.
“The next mayor will be a sacrifice. Things cannot happen from one month to another,” the liberal said, saying that the risk of bankruptcy is as high as in previous years.
“I have to tell you the truth. It is not against Nicușor Dan. Today's organizational chart is very similar to the one left by Sorin Oprescu or Adriean Videanu. The changes were marginal. It is a fair fact that I tell you. Bucharest has weakened as administrative capacity.
