I clean the kettle without a brush or chemicals: I throw it in 2 tbsp. in boiling water – shines like new without scale and rust

The formation of scale on the walls and bottom of the kettle is an inevitable consequence of using hard water.

Instead of store-bought chemicals, you can use a proven, safe and economical method using regular citric acid.

Scale is mainly insoluble calcium and magnesium salts that form when water is heated. Citric acid reacts chemically with them, turning solid deposits into soluble salts, carbon dioxide and water. This allows you to easily remove plaque without abrasive action.

Step-by-step cleaning instructions

1. Fill the kettle with water more than half its volume.
2. Add 1-2 tbsp. l. citric acid (approximately 20-40 g) depending on the volume of the kettle and the thickness of the scale layer. For a small layer, 1 tbsp is enough. l., for old scale – 2 tbsp. l. or more.
3. Bring the solution to a boil and turn off the device. For an electric kettle, simply run the boil cycle.
4. Leave the solution in the kettle for 1-2 hours for light deposits or overnight for old deposits.
5. After soaking, rinse the kettle thoroughly with running water, carefully removing any loose scale. If the plaque does not come off completely, repeat the procedure.
6. To remove residual acid, boil clean water in a kettle 1-2 times and drain it.

• Citric acid is a food product approved for use. It does not leave toxic traces or a pungent odor, unlike vinegar.
• It effectively copes even with heavy deposits, is cheap and does not contain aggressive chemicals.
