Russians will have a second two-day working week at the end of the year

The last working week of December will be the second shortest in 2025: most residents of the country will work only on Monday and Tuesday.

However, the last working day of the year, December 30, will not be shortened. According to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the working day is reduced by one hour before an official holiday, but December 31 is not one.

“This year December 31 is a non-working day thanks to the decision [о переносе выходного]which was adopted in accordance with a government decree last year. And December 30 is a regular working day, not shortened,” Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs, explained to TASS.

Let us remind you that earlier this year the work week lasted two days only in January, the rest of the short weeks were three days.

The New Year holidays, including weekends, will last 12 days – from December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026.
