New headaches for Escape Mario Iorgulescu. The LPF chief's son risks receiving surplus of punishment

Mario Iorgulescu, 29, was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison with execution by the Bucharest Court of Appeal. The son of the LPF was found guilty of murder, after killing a young man in 2019, in a road accident, being under the influence of drugs.

He did not surrender and is in Italy, where he would be under psychiatric supervision. According to the new law entered into force in 2025, Mario Iorgulescu is considered escaped and risks additional years of detention.
“A new paragraph is added – (3^1) to art. 285 of the Criminal Code (the deed of escape), which stipulates that it is considered to escape and the deed of the person sentenced to the punishment for life or to the prison sentence not to be presented to the police body in order to enforce the mandate of execution of the sentence within 7 days from the date on which the decision remained.
The punishment applied for the escape offense is added to the remaining sentence not executed at the date of escape. In the case of decisions that have remained final prior to the entry into force of this law, the 7 -day term flows from the date of entry into force of this law”, It is stated in the new law, according to spynews.ro.
In addition to the 8 years and 8 months he received, Mario Iorgulescu risks receiving another 3 additional detention. The court has set a sentence of 7 years in prison for guilty murder and another 2 for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of prohibited substances.
The two penalties were combined with a previous 3-year sentence, received in a separate file.
Defense lawyers claim that Iorgulescu jr. suffer from serious mental illnesses and has no discernment.
