
Plus a phobia: a Russian woman contracted West Nile fever from a mosquito bite in Bashkiria
It was initially believed that the woman contracted the disease while on vacation in Egypt. However, it turned out that she became infected from a mosquito bite in the Kushnarenkovsky district, and was abroad during the incubation period of the disease.
The case was the first in the republic. Symptoms of the disease include cramps, muscle fatigue, paralysis, headache and tremors.
