President Nicușor Dan announced that he will present a report regarding violence against women, which he described as “degrading”, and the actions that must be taken by the authorities to combat this problem.

Violence against women is “degrading”, the head of state said, on Saturday night's edition of “40 questions with Denise Rifai” on Kanal D.

“Fight with Doroftei (…), but don't attack women”, added Nicușor Dan.

According to the president, the state adviser for relations with civil society, Diana Punga, is in contact with each of the parliamentarians “dealing” with this subject.

“We will come out together with a report on this matter and see what are the things that need to be improved at the police level, at the sanctioning level,” Nicușor Dan also said.

He suggested that the speed of the judicial act may give “a signal” about how the state relates to such events.

“We have to look, and here is one of the pains, and I mentioned it when we talked about corruption, how quickly the criminal process works. Because it's one thing to give a signal how it happened, he hit, God forbid, he killed and in six months he's in prison, and it's another thing to read a news, “you know, do you remember 4-5 years ago? Here's the one who was convicted”, the president said.
