The German women's national team sparked the excitement of the media in the country after the superb victory against France, 29-23, in the semi-finals of the World Handball Championship. The success achieved in front of the titre world champion sent Germany to their first World Cup final in 32 yearsand the journalists' reactions were adequate.
The team coached by Sebastien Gardillou had played in seven world semi-finals in history, each time managing to advance to the game for gold which they won in 2003, 2017 and 2023. On the other hand, Markus Gaugisch's team had not reached a medal since 2007, when they won the bronze.

The Germans also highlighted the team's collective strength, as well as the defensive discipline that made the difference against a helpless France.
Germany, historic qualification after 32 years
The Germans led almost constantly, went into halftime with 15-12 and had 24-20 with 10 minutes to go. France, without solutions in attack, succumbed physically and mentally to goalkeeper Katharina Filter, considered the MVP of the semifinal.
