Putin spoke on the phone for the first time with the new head of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
According to the president, Russia is ready to help improve the socio-economic situation in the republic, including humanitarian aid. Putin wished his colleague success, specifically – to achieve normalization of the situation in the country, activate inter-Syrian dialogue in the world and solve the problems facing the new leadership.
Russia is now discussing with the Syrian authorities the issue of maintaining its military bases on the Mediterranean coast.
