Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has once again reflected on the impact that artificial intelligence will have on the labor market, saying that there is one type of worker that this technology will never be able to replace.

During his participation in Italian Tech Week 2025, which took place in Turin, Bezos explained that inventiveness is the foundation of all technological progress. He stated that progress depends on people imagining new solutions to problems and daring to build what does not yet exist. In his opinion, this mentality allowed him to lead Amazon to the position of global leader and to develop Blue Origin in the aerospace sector.

Creativity as the driving force of innovation

The entrepreneur recalled lessons learned from his grandfather on the family farm in Texas, where they spent a summer fixing a bulldozer without outside help. “Ai spent a whole summer fixing it. To remove the transmission, we had to build our own crane”Bezos said, according to El Confidencial. That experience taught him the value of hands-on creativity and the importance of meeting challenges with ingenuity and determination.

The Amazon founder has said he considers himself a born inventor. “Put me in front of a white board and I can generate 100 ideas in half an hour“, he explained. He also mentioned that he looks for the same attitude in candidates applying for positions in his companies. “When I interview candidates, I ask them to give me an example of something they invented” he said. For Bezos, creatively minded professionals are the ones who keep experimentation and innovation alive.

A philosophy that shaped Amazon

Bezos pointed out that innovation also serves as an antidote to fear of competition. “I'm more afraid of two kids in a garage than the competitors I already know“, he admitted in a previous interview. His statement alludes to the spirit with which tech giants like Google and Apple emerged. At Amazon, this philosophy remains an internal rule: those who don't like to explore new paths or test ideas that might fail “don't stay long with the company.”
