The Rex Hotel in Mamaia will be put up for sale again on March 5. It is the third attempt to sell the hotel, writes the website Profit.

After the developer Hagag Development Europe, controlled by the businessman Yitzhak Hagag, decided to cancel the 13.3 million euro agreement signed by the owner of the hotel, the family of Carmen Palade, ex-wife of the businessman Dan Adamescu, now the complex in Mamaia is put up for auction.

According to the cited source, the amount requested is 10 million euros. It is exactly the amount that businessman Gigi Becali wanted to pay in 2018, but then changed his mind due to the “complicated” situation of the hotel's property documents, notes Profit.

The hotel was supposed to be owned by the Israeli developer in six installments, but the company paid less than 2 million euros for it.

In the 90s-2000s, the Rex hotel was the best-known five-star hotel on the Coast, writes Profit. It was bought by Dan Adamescu in 2006, with 10 million euros from the businessman Viorel Păunescu, but it was never reopened after it was damaged by a fire. Dan Adamescu died in 2017.

The Rex Hotel was inaugurated in 1938 during the reign of King Charles II.
