The measures announced on Sunday, following last week's working meetings of the Council of Ministers, attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior and security agencies, include increased land, sea and air protection for critical infrastructure, as well as inspections of safety procedures and classified information at Lukoil Neftochim Burgas and Lukoil-Bulgaria, according to the Bulgarian News Agency.
Ensuring the security of the Lukoil infrastructure in Bulgaria is a reaction to the recent decision of the United States to sanction the Russian company Lukoil, as well as to incidents at Lukoil facilities in several European countries.
The government's press office said SANS is conducting a thematic review to verify compliance with the Classified Information Protection Act and applicable secondary regulations.
The main departments within the Ministry of the Interior manage public order and crime prevention at the company's facilities nationwide.
