The Acting General Mayor of the Capital, Stelian Bujduveanu, announced on Friday, December 5, the signing of agreements with the owners of the apartments in the block in Rahova that exploded, so that the safety works, carried out at the expense of the City Hall, can begin “fast and without bureaucracy”.

“We are making the Rahova block safe and giving people confidence that they are not alone in this difficult time.

The agreement signed with all the tenants allows us to fully intervene at the expense of the City Hall, so that the works can start quickly and without bureaucracy.

It is an essential step in a difficult time. I know people can't go home yet and live in uncertainty. That is precisely why we are now intervening, quickly and professionally, at the full expense of the City Hall, to eliminate the risks and open the way to the solutions they deserve.

I take this process head-to-tail. We will work transparently, responsibly and with absolute priority for the safety of affected families. People remain at the center of every decision I make,” transmits the acting general mayor of the Capital, Stelian Bujduveanu.

We remind you that the devastating explosion that destroyed a block of flats in Rahova, resulting in the death of three people and the injury of 14 others, was caused by the accumulation of natural gas leaking through two cracks in the supply pipe.

The judges showed that the tragedy could have been avoided if the employees of Distrigaz and those of the private company had followed the safety procedures.

On October 17, a criminal case was opened regarding the devastating explosion in the 8-story building. The file, initially registered at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest District Court 5, was taken over by the prosecutors of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, the investigators carrying out in rem investigations for culpable destruction.
