Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt meet on December 9, at the Camp Nou, in the unique group of the Champions League, and the hosts do not want to happen again as it happened in 2022.
On April 14, 2022, in the Europa League “quarters”, Barcelona were overwhelmed by Eintracht both on the pitch and in the stands. Camp Nou was then stormed by the fans of the German team, who, after exhausting the 5 percent quota allocated according to UEFA regulations, they also purchased their tickets on the Internet.
Barcelona has decided that, apart from the 5 percent quota reserved for guests, it will only sell tickets to its fans
And at match time there were more inside the arena than Barcelona supporters! The next? They cheered their team on wildly, and after 1-1 in the first leg in Frankfurt, Eintracht won 3-2 and qualified for the semi-finals! A situation that president Joan Laporta does not want repeated on December 9, when the two teams meet again, this time in the single group of the Champions League.
The solution? FC Barcelona issued a statement at noon on Thursday announcing that, apart from the 5 percent quota made available to guests, all tickets for next Tuesday's Champions League match will be exclusive to club members. The Catalan club justified this decision stating that it was necessary “to prevent a repeat of the events of April 2022”.
Barcelona want to prevent tickets being resold to Eintracht supporters, as happened in 2022
Barca also announced it would take a number of measures to prevent tickets being resold to German fans and warned of potential legal consequences for its members who try to resell them. “There will be increased security checks, including visual as well as name checks of participants.
We will also coordinate with Eintracht Frankfurt to prevent German fans from entering Camp Nou and will monitor any potential ticket sales via social media,” the Spanish champions' officials said.
