VIDEO. Ovidiu Mihăilă's conclusions: “It's hard to win when you concede 39 goals”

“We have to accept moments like this. I was convinced that there will be difficult moments like this during the Championship. We have to keep the girls balanced and focused. We only lost one game against Denmark.

It's a team that relies on penetrating power, on the second phase. I did a good 40 minutes, then there were moments of precipitation. We discussed having long attacks, putting pressure on them. Any lost ball is completed with a counter attack.

When you concede 39 goals it's hard to win. We determined that we had to block the counter-attacks, the extremes to fall back, and then destroy this second phase. We missed this on the last part. When a Nordic team breaks away, it's very hard to come back.

We have to accept, I also take on such moments, not only the beautiful ones. I have to let's find solutions to reach, in the short future, to face such games with Norway, Denmark“, was the brief analysis of Ovidiu Mihăilă.

Reserved optimism before the duel with Hungary

In order to keep the chances alive, and even become the favorite to qualify for the quarter-finals, Romania must win Wednesday's match against Hungary.

Hungary comes with 4 points from a balanced group and to them to some extent. I hope the girls recover very well, we have time at least visually to watch what Hungary can offer. In terms of game preparation, it's very difficult on a training day. Therefore, motivation must remain the important factor to be able to keep the team on a balanced line. And to beat Hungary. Why not?

– Ovidiu Mihăilă, the Romanian coach

Asked if he is considering including all 3 goalkeepers on the game sheet for the match against Hungary, Mihăilă said that he must first find out details about the condition of Elena Şerban, hit in the dispute with Denmark.

“We will analyze this detail together with the technical staff. We will also see what happens with Elena, if she is healthy and no medical problems have arisen. You see, the goal can give you balls and keep you on an upward line.” the selector sent.

  • In the first 3 matches, Romania relied on two goalkeepers each time. Iulia Dumanska and Bianca Curment were on the scoresheet in the disputes with Japan and Croatia, Dumanska and Elena Şerban defended against Denmark.
