“While playing hide and seek, the little girl looked for a particularly good hiding place“, said the municipal fire inspector, Benedikt Frohlich, quoted by the dpa agency, according to Agerpres. According to him, the child entered the tub of the washing machine with his feet first and then pulled the rest of his body inside, remaining stuck. The parents immediately called the fire department for help.

Rescuers initially tried to free her using lubricants and removing parts of the car, but eventually had to cut the tub with a power saw. Fortunately, the little girl was not injured.

Specialists sound the alarm and warn that teenagers and children should not hide in narrow spaces or in electrical appliances, as these gestures can put their lives in danger.

The incident is reminiscent of a situation in October when Austrian firefighters had to use hydraulic shears to free a 13-year-old girl who had climbed into a clothes dryer from her home in a suburb of Vienna.
