International Documentary Film Festival SiberiaDOC starts in Krasnoyarsk

On Friday, November 28, the opening of the III International Documentary Film Festival SiberiaDOC will take place in the Great Hall of the House of Cinema (Mira Ave., 88). The event will bring together filmmakers, critics and documentary film lovers.

Guests of the evening will be treated to a special program: from 18:30, a photo zone for memorable photographs with festival participants will open in the hall, as well as an exhibition of posters of the international competition and a demonstration of the festival prizes – unique tactile “Branches” figurines created from Siberian poplar. The atmosphere of the evening will be created by the performance of the BrasSib quintet jazz ensemble.

At 19:00 The opening ceremony will begin with welcoming words from the creators of the festival. The guests will be addressed by Nikolay Bem, head of the International Film Festival SiberiaDOC, director of EniseyFilm LLC, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, Kristina Daurova, program director of the Festival, as well as Larisa Antropova, director of the House of Cinema, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation. The organizers will present the festival concept and program, including 37 films from 15 countries.

The main event of the evening will be the premiere screening of the Czech film “Resilience” directed by Tomas Elsik. The film combines elements of an environmental thriller and a poetic statement about nature. The plot centers on botanist Pavel, who restores damaged meadows, and wildlife defender Klara, who hunts poachers' traps. When a poisoned eagle is found in the forest, an investigation begins that reveals the fragility of the ecosystem and the extent of human impact. The film has already received recognition at international film festivals for its visual aesthetics and topical issues.

Among the guests of the opening ceremony are famous documentary directors whose works were included in the festival program.

Maria Krasnoperova is the only Russian in the main competition with the film “While the River Flows” about the ship “Alexander Matrosov” and the Yenisei. Five years of filming in difficult conditions made it possible to create a large-scale film about life on a Siberian river. The film was one of 12 films in the competition program of the International Debut Festival “One Sixth”. A graduate of the Moscow School of New Cinema, Maria also teaches at the College of Creative Industries in Krasnoyarsk.

Anastasia Vladimirova will present the film “U” about the theater of deaf actors in St. Petersburg. “I have always been interested in how the deaf community lives in Russia. I hope my film will help people erase boundaries,” says the director.

Ekaterina Kurunina will bring an experimental work “About Dashing One-Eyed”. A VGIK student notes: “Experiment is the only way to develop the documentary genre.”

Sasha Kozma will show the film “Tribe” – a philosophical study about the connection of times and ancient rituals. The young director from Moldova graduated from the workshop of Mikhail Zheleznikov.
