New speed cameras are already catching drivers. We know where they are


New speed cameras on the map of Polish roads mean a threat of high fines for some, but for most road users they mean an increase in safety. This is the goal of CANARD, the Center for Automatic Road Traffic Supervision, which launched two new speed cameras in November.

As reported by “Auto Świat”, new speed cameras aim to increase road safety, especially in places where accidents occur frequently. These devices not only record speed violations, but also act preventively, forcing drivers to drive more carefully.

The introduction of modern technologies, such as TraffiStar SR390, allows for more effective enforcement of regulations, even in difficult weather conditions.
CANARD is developing a network of speed cameras and sectional speed measurements, which is intended to increase road safety throughout the country.
New speed cameras are already catching drivers. Where are they located?
The first of the new speed cameras was installed in Ostrowiec (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) on the DK22 national road, where the speed limit is 50 km/h.
The second one appeared in the town of Rumianek (Greater Poland Voivodeship) on DK92, at the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Poznańska and Południowa streets. Both places were selected based on an analysis of threats and traffic intensity.

According to “Auto Świat”, the average cost of one speed camera is PLN 240,000. zloty. As part of the contract with Lifor, for PLN 16.7 million, 70 new devices will appear on Polish roads. Most of them will go to the Wielkopolskie (11), Lower Silesian (10) and Masovian (8) voivodeships. Modern TraffiStar SR390 speed cameras are adapted to work in difficult weather conditions and in poor lighting, which increases their effectiveness.

As “Auto Świat” reminds, from 2022, each speed limit, even by 1 km/h, may result in a fine.
In 2025, the tariff provides, among others: PLN 50 fine and 1 penalty point for exceeding the speed limit of up to 10 km/h, or even PLN 2,500 and 15 penalty points for driving over 70 km/h faster than allowed.
For recidivists, these penalties may be doubled, which means that the fine may be up to PLN 5,000.
