Conscript soldiers in Russia may begin to be sent to serve as firefighters in the Ministry of Emergency Situations

17 February 12:01
Russia may pass a law allowing conscripts to work as firefighters. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, spoke about this at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption.
He explained that this initiative has already been agreed upon with the Russian Ministry of Defense. If the president supports it, appropriate changes will be required to the fire safety law.
“Russian newspaper» reports that the minister explained this proposal by the problem of the outflow of qualified personnel from the emergency response units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is also negotiating with the Ministry of Finance to increase employee salaries. Involving conscripted military personnel in these activities will be an additional option for resolving the situation.
