A new fire station, in the Tineretului district of the Capital. Daniel Băluță: “If the infrastructure is not ready, everything becomes fragile”

A new fire station is being built in the Tineretului district of Bucharest. The unit will be the second such facility that Sector 4 builds and puts into use, after the one in Perșani Street, which has already been operating for more than two years for the benefit of the community in the southern part of the Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan area and which completes the integrated system regarding people's safety and health.

This system currently consists of the fire department, the discharge station, the Emergency Reception Unit at the Bagdasar-Arseni Hospital and the burn ward within the premises of the same medical unit.

“We are building this fire station because people need safety. At the city level, safety starts with two essential things: prevention and real preparation to respond quickly in emergency situations. No matter how well a city works, if the interventions are delayed, if the infrastructure is not prepared and if people are not protected, everything becomes fragile. We recently had two major incidents in Bucharest: the explosion at the apartment building in Rahova and the fire on Ion Nuțu Street in Sector 5. In both cases, the crews from the ISU Perșani station were there and contributed directly to limiting the damage and protecting people. The station I'm telling you about was built from ZERO in Sector 4 and it's the first fire department built in Bucharest in the last THIRTY FIVE years we need more such facilities in Bucharest
and that is precisely why I invited you here today, in Tineretului, where we are building from scratch the second ISU station in Sector 4″,
said Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4, during a press conference.

Strategically located, next to the park and a stone's throw from the Tineretului district, precisely to reduce the reaction time in a dense and highly trafficked area, the new ISU unit will be housed in a brand new building, which will be able to be used by a number of 15 people at the same time, two special vehicles, an ambulance and two motorcycles. The actual construction has already started and will be completed in maximum 12 months. For this, approximately 9 million lei will be used, money from the local budget, according to a statement sent by the Press Office of Sector 4.

Băluță: “This is what we all want, a city where people are prepared, know how to react, and the intervention teams arrive quickly everywhere”

After completion, this new fire station will also be part of the integrated system for the safety and health of people, set up by the administration of Sector 4 for its citizens, but also for those from the sectors and neighboring areas.

“This safety and health system means, in addition to this unit we are building, the station in Perșani Street. 1,100 square meters, with a gym, bedrooms, kitchen, changing rooms, offices, technical spaces and a barracks that houses an emergency vehicle, a mobile intensive care team, an extrication unit and a motorcycle for rapid intervention. Everything we have built in Sector 4 for the safety of people must become the norm in all of Bucharest: public buildings that don't put anyone in danger, bridges and passages that are checked and made safe, institutions that work together and complement each other – from firefighters and hospitals to local authorities. Because, basically, that's what we all want, a city where people are prepared, know how to react, and the intervention teams arrive quickly everywhere.” Daniel Băluță also said, according to the press release.

Rogobete: “Bucharest would need 10 more such ISU stations”

Present at the press conference organized by the mayor of District 4, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, explained that the state's response system in case of need is perfectable and that fire stations inside neighborhoods, such as the one in the Tineretului neighborhood, can represent basic pillars in plans to protect public health and safety.

“Increasing the response capacity for the health system, for emergency situations, is essential. And it has been seen recently when we encountered such situations that were responded to in a quick time, precisely because the infrastructure in Sector 4 was prepared for this. And I am referring here, in particular, to the explosion in Rahova, where, if the new ISU station was not prepared and equipped, the one built by the mayor Daniel Băluță, things would not have gone as well and the response time would not have been as short. From the analysis we have at the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Situations, 10 more ISU stations would be needed to respond as quickly as possible to emergency situations. I am sure that Daniel Băluță, when he will be Mayor General, will take care of building 10 more stations. People need safety and security in addition to the social protection and safety area, medical safety is essential. And this can only be ensured if the infrastructure responds quickly. I am referring here to the ISU, ambulance, and discharge stations to be able to intervene in the shortest possible time, but also to increase the response capacity of the emergency reception units.” said the Minister of Health.
