The incident took place on Sunday, March 29, around 13/10. The first information about it was provided by the Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. According to his report, when a patrol of soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent in Lebanon was moving in a vehicle, a booby trap exploded. A non-commissioned officer of the 12th Mechanized Brigade was injured.

Our soldier suffered minor injuries and was immediately provided with medical care. His injuries are not life-threatening

– said the head of the Ministry of National Defense at that time.

As a journalist from RMF FM radio found out, the injured soldier is already returning to his unit. He spent the night in the hospital. Examinations showed no serious injuries, apart from a head wound. Therefore, the Pole does not require longer hospitalization. The Polish non-commissioned officer underwent a CT scan. He was also under ENT observation.

After returning to his base, he will resume standard duties as part of the contingent. He will stay in Lebanon for about two more weeks. After this time, the unit's rotation begins. The injured soldier will return to the country.

After an incident involving a Polish soldier occurred on Sunday, the command suspended all patrols. On Monday, they returned to their normal duties.

On Sunday, the National Security Bureau also issued a statement on this matter. In a statement, it said that the President, the commander-in-chief of the Polish Armed Forces, Karol Nawrocki, was regularly informed about the Polish soldier's health condition.

Polish soldiers carry out activities in Lebanon related to the mandate of the UN mission. The contingent consists of up to 250 soldiers.
