Serious accident on DN 26, in Galati county. Five people injured, including a child, after a driver entered the opposite direction
Five people, including an 11-year-old child, were injured in a serious road accident on Thursday afternoon on DN 26, in Galati county. The event took place outside the town of Vânători, after a driver entered the opposite direction of travel and hit two other cars.

According to the Galati County Police Inspectorate, “on February 5, 2026, at around 4:50 p.m., the policemen of the Galati Road Service were alerted to the occurrence of a road accident on DN 26, outside the town of Vânători, Galati county”.
From the first checks carried out on the spot, the police established that “a car driven by a 61-year-old man from the municipality of Galați allegedly entered the opposite direction of travel and collided with a car driven by a 23-year-old man from Vânători, and later with another car driven by a 39-year-old woman from Tulucești commune”. The two hit cars were traveling from the direction of Galați municipality towards the town of Tulucești.
Five victims transported to hospital
Following the impact, “five people were injured, namely the 61-year-old man, the driver and three other passengers in the same car, aged between 11 and 37”. All the victims were transported to the hospital for the provision of specialized medical care.
The police also state that “the drivers involved were tested with the breathalyzer, the results were negative”.
In this case it was drawn up “criminal file under the aspect of committing the crime of culpable bodily harm”and investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances in which the accident occurred.
