The mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, claims that during the Ciolacu-Ciucă government, good things were done for Romania, she affirming that “on that deficit” the purchasing power increased and highways were built in Romania.

Lia Olguţa Vasilescu rejected on Sunday evening, on Antena 3, the idea that the Ciolacu-Ciucă government would have harmed the country, arguing that during that period good things were done for Romania.

“Now they don't recognize them anymore and talk about the deficit, given that the pensions were increased on that deficit, it was the biggest increase in pensions in history. On that deficit, the purchasing power of pensioners and employees increased by 31%. All the highways and express roads were also built, 400 kilometers of highways and express roads. What do we do? Do we stop?” said social democrat Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, according to News.ro.

“All countries go on loans”

She stated that all large countries have a deficit and that it is necessary for development.

At the same time, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu declared that during the Ciolacu-Ciucă government Romania's economy grew.

“I say that we have a stable situation. The economy was on a growth trend. Let's not forget that we surpassed five countries during that period of sad memory, as they say, Ciucă and Ciolacu. We surpassed Portugal at that time, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece and so on. We came close to that of Poland. It's true, with some loans that, once again, all countries make. Apart from Germany, all other countries loans”, added Olguţa Vasilescu.

The deficit – “a nightmare”, says Ciolacu

Former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu repeatedly attacked his successor, Ilie Bolojan, and harshly criticized the measures adopted by the Government.

On November 18, without pronouncing the name of the prime minister, Ciolacu said that “a man wants to show that he is the savior of mankind” and that “that man, with this attitude, that nothing works, alienates investors, increases the interest rates himself”.

Ciolacu categorizes the deficit as “a nightmare” and claims that, during the period in which the highways were built, Spain had a bigger deficit than the one registered by Romania.
