Daniel Niculae, president of the FC Hermannstadt club, revealed that the Sibiu team will no longer rely on defender Vahid Selimovic (28 years old).
The decision was taken following the numerous blunders committed by the Luxembourg stopper in this season of the Super League.

“We don't count on Selimovic anymore, we sent him the club's decision and we hope to reach an agreement for an amicable termination”, Niculae announced, according to oradesibiu.ro.
In the match against Csikszereda (0-2) in stage #13, Selimovic made a wrong pass to his own goalkeeper, and Eppel ('38) took advantage and opened the scoring. The centre-back is currently suspended after being sent off against the Steel (1-3, stage #15) in the 13th minute for headbutting an opponent when the ball was not in play.
The Luxembourger had also received a red card in the previous season, after a very hard foul committed on Hromada.
Măldărășanu: “Selimovic does not have a mental balance”
After 3-3 with FCSB, coach Marius Măldărășanu spoke about the situation of the central defender from Luxembourg.
“All the time Vaha is challenged, unfortunately, he does not have a balance from a mental point of view and then he responds to the challenges. Football-wise he was very good, less so in the match with Miercurea Ciuc, there was his only error, otherwise he was not the main culprit in the goals conceded. Two mistakes came in two consecutive matches played at home, from a football point of view with Miercurea Ciuc and then disciplinary with Oțelul, it is a difficult situation with him”. Măldărășanu had stated.
Selimovic arrived at FC Hermannstadt in July 2024 and collected 36 matches in the Sibiu team's shirt, including 14 this season. During his career he also played for Metz (France), Apollon Limassol (Cyprus), OFI Crete (Greece), ND Gorica (Slovenia) and Zeljznicar (Bosnia).
