The Greek authorities announced on Monday about the signing of the contract with the French Ministry of Defense for the purchase of 16 EXOCET anti -ship missiles. The head of the French defense department Sebastien Lecorn is visiting Athens.

Greece Defense Minister Nikos Dendias did not reveal the value of the contract. However, he informed that Athens would additionally buy the Belharr frigate next to three, for which the contract was concluded in 2021. Paris and Athens then signed an agreement on mutual security, which also assumes the purchase of French fighters Rafale by Greece.

At the beginning of the month, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Micotakis announced that as part of a 12-year defense strategy, the Greek authorities would spend EUR 25 billion to defense. The head of government called this plan “the most radical change in the history of the armed forces” of Greece.

He emphasized that the Arsenal of Greek troops should include Unmanned vehicles, circulating ammunition, drones, anti -done systems. He added that this should be accompanied by activities aimed at defending cybernetic attacks and offensive cybernetic activities.
