A career forum was held at Reshetnev University in Krasnoyarsk with the participation of chemical industry companies

The Krasnoyarsk Territory was one of eight regional sites in the country where the events of the “Personnel for Chemistry” career forum took place over several days in November.
The forum is being implemented within the framework of the federal project “Advanced training and retraining of qualified personnel in the field of new materials and chemistry” of the national project “New materials and chemistry”. It brought together schoolchildren, students and leading employers in the chemical industry of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The organizer of the career marathon events was the Institute of Chemical Technologies of Reshetnev University.
Among the main goals of the forum are the orientation of young people in modern career trends in the chemical industry and the discussion of issues related to the formation of human resources with employers. Organizing a productive dialogue to develop effective career guidance practices in the context of a growing personnel shortage for a region with a developed chemical industry is becoming an increasingly pressing problem
The career forum started with on-site events in Achinsk, where, on the basis of the Oil and Gas College named after. E. A. Demyanenko held a master class “Chemical Laboratory of Knowledge”. In a fun and playful way, schoolchildren tried themselves in the roles of ecologists, laboratory assistants, and biotechnologists. We also looked for answers in the intellectual game “Oil Quiz.” The master class became a platform for direct communication between leading teachers of the Institute of Chemical Technology and schoolchildren showing interest in the profession.
The key event of the forum was the round table “Personnel needs and targeted training as a tool for creating a career reserve.” Industrial partners of the university were invited to participate in its work – chemical industry companies PJSC Kraspharma, LLC Reneval, JSC ANPZ VNK, JSC KZSK, JSC Transneft-Western Siberia, JSC Iskra. In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Education, the Labor and Employment Agency and other structures, including educational ones, joined the discussion.
Today, the share of the total market for chemical products is 6 trillion dollars and only 1.8% of world production is produced in Russia. A country that has set its sights on achieving technological sovereignty cannot be satisfied with this state of affairs.
“Within the framework of the national project “Chemistry and New Materials,” a number of serious tasks are being solved today, one of which is the advanced training of qualified personnel. By 2030, the country will need to train 30 thousand specialists with a chemical education in order to ensure the production that is developing today. And it is planned to open more than 150 of them! In these conditions, personnel issues become key!” – emphasizes the director of ICT Alexey Lyubyashkin.
One of the effective tools in solving this problem can be targeted training. Today, the university has concluded 106 long-term partnership agreements, 40 of which involve the Institute of Chemical Technologies. The round table discussion allowed the participants to exchange their experience, discuss the problems of personnel shortages and make proposals for improving the staffing strategy.
The program of the final day of the forum included not only interactive platforms organized for schoolchildren by chemical industry enterprises, but also lectures for school teachers involved in preparing schoolchildren for subject Olympiads.
The discussion platform “Chemistry of the Future,” which was attended by representatives of chemical industry enterprises and a youth audience, that is, the present and future of the industry, became a bright chord that closed the career marathon. The work took place in the format of a live dialogue, where participants sought answers to questions about what kind of education and competencies will be in demand in chemical production tomorrow, what career paths are open for a young specialist at a chemical enterprise, and how a student or even a schoolchild can begin their professional career in large companies in the region and country today.
“I haven’t decided where to go after school yet, so I came to Reshetnev University to learn more about the prospects of studying at ICT, because I love chemistry and biology. I think it is important to communicate with company representatives and learn about real working conditions, difficulties and risks. This will help me make a choice and understand whether I’m ready to connect my life with chemistry,” Anastasia, a student at Krasnoyarsk gymnasium No. 7, shared her impressions.
