The USR candidate for the Capital City Hall, Cătălin Drula, rules out a withdrawal from the elections, declaring that he entered this race to win it.

“The only survey that matters is at the polls. I entered this race to win it. I have faith in the project we have, I go to the voters with an open heart and with my head held high. There is enormous support and enthusiasm for this project and I am convinced that we will win”, said the candidate for USR Bucharest City Hall, Cătălin Drula, on Monday evening, on Digi24, News.ro quotes.

Cătălin Drula completely ruled out a withdrawal from the electoral race. “Yes, absolutely. I entered this race to win it,” he said.

Drula was also asked if it would be appropriate for one of the other two candidates to withdraw. “I can't allow myself to say that, because I think the elections are about having a choice. That's it. If we don't have a vote in two rounds, because the parties of the two candidates want this voting system in a single round, we're still here. We fight with all our heart and with everything we can, the USR, to have a vote in two rounds. But until then, I think the essence of democracy is about elections, about projects, about debates. That if we could only solve things tactically and pulling strings, we would no longer make elections”, mentioned Cătălin Drula.

According to Drula, “this country went through a trauma last year, the cancellation of some elections, and regardless of how we relate to that moment, it is a traumatic moment for democracy”.

“The normality of the democracy we are aiming for is to have elections in which people vote and the one who gets the most votes in this system, as we vote in one round, goes ahead and implements his plan. These discussions poisoned us all last year. I remember calls, as if Mr. Ciucă was about to win the elections, everyone had to stand in front of him. Mr. Ciucu was campaign manager of to Mr. Ciucă and together, showing some falsified polls, they called for everyone to get out of Mr. Ciucă's way, that they are about to win the elections. I don't want them to appeal to the past and I'm less interested in talking about people, although I think more decency wouldn't hurt, and I want to talk about projects. I'm waiting for them here, at debates about budgets, about urban planning, about a single city, not seven fragmented cities, about how any kind of mayor could do a bit of work in the Capital”, Cătălin Drula pointed out.
