Italians are crazy about Sinner. The final of the Tournament of Champions, the most watched tennis match in the history of Italy

The final of the Tennis Tournament of Champions, broadcast on Sky and Raidue and decided by Jannik Sinner (7-6, 7-5 with Carlos Alcaraz), represented a record match for the white sport in Italy. Italy's national soccer team 1-4 with Norway on Raiuno attracted 7.5 million viewers, but the share of those who watched Jannik was higher.

Yesterday's final in Turin was the most watched tennis match in the history of television in Italy. The match against Alcaraz, broadcast on Raidue and Sky, attracted 7 million viewers (36.6% share), surpassing the 2023 final in Turin between Jannik and Djokovic, which attracted 6.7 million.

In detail, on Raidue, the event in Turin, from 18:15 to 20:29, attracted 5.5 million viewers, with a share of 29%. The match was broadcast on the pay-TV channels of Sky, which holds the full TV rights for the event: 1.5 million viewers, with a market share of 7.6%. Both figures, compiled by Studio Frasi, are based on total audience, meaning they include viewing on PCs, smartphones and tablets.

The Sinner-Alcaraz match was slightly better than the final two years ago, if we consider only the big screens: 6,789,000 compared to 6,686,000. In terms of total audience, it took the lead: 7,008,000.

As a confirmation of Sinner's exceptional viewership, on the same Sunday, in prime time, the soccer match between Italy and Norway totaled 7.5 million viewers on Rai Uno in total. Tennis is in second place, after football, but has a higher share: 36.6% compared to 34%. It's true that Gattuso's national team match, which started shortly after the end of the final, benefited from prime-time attention.
