The Swiss delegation to Washington, hoping to reduce the tariffs imposed on their country by the US, gave President Donald Trump gifts – a gold Rolex desk watch and a one-kilogram personalized gold bar – Axios reported.

The Swiss bar was marked with the numbers 45 and 47, indicating Trump's presidential terms. The value of the gift exceeds PLN 130,000. dollars.
Trump loves such gestures, said the portal, adding that truly royal tributes impress him, as both states and corporations seeking his favor have already discovered.
Trump accepted the gifts on behalf of his presidential library. Thanks to this, according to White House officials, there was no violation of American law.
Axios noted that – when it comes to gifts for Trump – the bar was previously raised by the American company Apple. The president of this company, Tim Cook, presented the president in August this year. an engraved glass disk with a 24-carat gold base, which was intended to commemorate the company's new investment in the USA worth $100 billion. The US Olympic Committee presented Trump with a set of commemorative Olympic medals from the 1984 games in Los Angeles (before the president's current term expires, the next summer games will be held in this city in 2028). Earlier, the Qatari government donated a Boeing 747 jet worth $400 million to the Trump library. In turn, many corporations and private individuals donated approximately $300 million to the president for the construction of a giant ballroom connected to the White House.
However, it was the gift from Apple that became Trump's favorite gift – until the Swiss showed up. “It was difficult to beat Apple, but the Swiss managed to do it,” admitted one of the administration officials in an interview with Axios.
The Swiss charm offensive has paid off. On Friday, the US government announced a reduction in tariffs on goods from Switzerland from 39 to 15 percent. In return, Bern announced the easing of trade barriers, and Swiss companies agreed to greater investments in the US.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced on Friday an agreement to reduce tariffs in relations with Switzerland. He spared no compliments to Trump. “President Trump's unparalleled negotiations continue to benefit the American people,” he argued. (PAP)
