The Masovian National Tax Administration found irregularities during an audit at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the National Tax Administration announced in a statement on Friday. The value of the irregularities amounted to almost PLN 219 million.

“In connection with the information provided by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, KAS informs that during the audit conducted by the Director of the Tax Administration Chamber in Warsaw at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, he sent a notification to the Prosecutor's Office on July 17, 2024 on the suspicion of committing a crime consisting in the failure to properly secure the interests of the State Treasury by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The KAS notification concerned primarily unfavorable provisions relating to the settlement of financial resources when signing contracts regarding the Museum of Memory and Identity. Saint John Paul II. The amount of the submitted notification is almost PLN 219 million,” the National Tax Administration reported in a statement on Friday.

It follows that the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, following the information provided by the National Treasury, “took steps to change unfavorable contractual provisions and properly protect the interests of the State Treasury.”

KAS also informed that the investigation into the above case is being conducted by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów. (PAP)
