The Russian authorities issued a warning on the pollution on the beaches of the popular Anapa resort before the Black Sea before the Summer Tourist Sea on Friday due to the oil spill caused by the sinking of two petroleums in December last year, reports News.ro citing AFP.
The Russian Health Agency Rospotrebnadzor found that “samples of sand and sea water did not comply with the health and hygiene standards” in Anapa and other areas of the Krasnodar region (southwest of the country), very popular for summer holidays in Russia.
This recommendation could have serious consequences for Anapa, who receive an increasing number of tourists, the Russians facing travel restrictions to the European Union from the beginning of the Ukraine offensive. This spa resort received 5.5 million visitors last year.
Almost 150 Beaches in Anapa, Russia and the surrounding area will be closed this year due to pollutation by oil tankers breaking open and knowing then fuel the sea.

An ecological disaster
On December 15, 2024, two outdated Russian oils failed during a storm in the Kerci Strait, between Russia and the annexed Crimea, pouring its load and causing massive pollution in the Black Sea.
President Vladimir Putin acknowledged in December that it was “an ecological disaster” and criticized what he called the inadequate reaction of the local authorities.
The accident caused the spill of thick layers of toxic fuel on the Russian beaches, forcing the authorities and volunteers to gather tens of thousands of tons of contaminated sand and pump oil from one of the failed oil.

The pollution also reached the Ukrainian Peninsula Crimea, annexed by Moscow in 2014, especially in the port of Sevastopol, about 250 kilometers from the incident.
At the beginning of April, the Russian authorities estimated the damage caused by this oil discharge to about 900 million euros.
