Substantial donation for the Army of the Republic of Moldova: it received 66 vehicles from the European Union

The Army of the Republic of Moldova received 66 vehicles, the lot worth over 5 million euros being offered by the European Union through the European Peace Instrument (EPF).

The batch of vehicles intended for the Army of the Republic of Moldova includes buses, trucks, as well as SUVs and pickup trucks.
It was offered during a ceremony held in a military camp in Chisinau, in the presence of the leadership of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense and the European Union Mission in Chisinau.
The Moldovan Defense Minister, Anatolie Nosatîi, emphasized that the donation contributes to the modernization of the army.
“This support, among many others, is an eloquent example of the effective cooperation between Republic of Moldova and the European Union and a demonstration of commitment to efforts to strengthen our defense capabilities. I thank the representatives of the EU mission in Moldova, but also the European institutions and states, who contributed to the realization of this important project for the National Army. I also thank all those who participated in the negotiations and facilitated the delivery of the lot to the Republic of Moldova”said Anatolie Nosatîi.
For his part, the deputy head of the EU Mission in the Republic of Moldova, Máté Csicsai, stated that the EU's support aims to,“strengthening the capacity of the Republic of Moldova” regarding the protection of citizens, but “with full respect for its constitutional neutrality”.
“Our assistance is about modernization, efficiency and preparation to respond to challenges in a peaceful and responsible manner. Today's ceremony is another important milestone in the development of our collaborative relationship — one based on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to peace and stability.” detailed Máté Csicsai.
Greater support
The “European Instrument for Peace” support platform was launched in 2021, the year in which the European Council approved the first tranche of aid for the defense system of the Republic of Moldova.
“The support aims to increase the defense capabilities of our country, by providing the National Army with medical, engineering, logistics, tactical communications, aerial surveillance, command and control, mobility and cyber defense equipment”according to the officials of the Ministry of Defense from Chisinau.
Initially, the financial assistance package was worth seven million euros, which was later increased to 197 million euros.
